I have been looking for chocolate without plastic or aluminum packaging, for a while. And what did I discover? I actually had the solution here for a long time, but I had completely forgotten about it…
A few years ago a friend of mine from The Netherlands gave me a wonderful recipe. Superb because of its simplicity and the delicious taste.
You can make your own chocolate in a very simple way! Black chocolate, that is to say.
- Take a dish and sprinkle the bottom with raisins. Or a mixture of dried fruit, preferably no bigger than raisins. You can be creative with this; try something different. Preferably something that is naturally sweet, otherwise the chocolate will be very bitter. Off course choose something that is not wrapped in plastic...
- Carfeully melt coconut oil (don’t let it burn!) and dissolve pure cocoa into the liquid oli. Preferably organic and fair trade cocoa and not coming from a plastic bag; pure off course, without added sugar. You will have to determine the quantities yourself according to your own taste.
- Pour this mixture over the raisins. Make sure that it is not too thick; the raisins may just stick out just above the oil. Max hight is half a cm.
- Put it in the freezer.
- You feel like eating chocolate? Open the freezer and enjoy a piece of this delicious black chocolate with raisins.
Variation: you can also sprinkle the raisins in ice cube trays and pour over the oil with cocoa. This way you will have nicely shaped chocolates you can offer to your visitors ...
Are you a real sweet tooth? Then you can experiment adding stevia.
When you take the chocolate out of the freezer, don’t let it wait too long before you eat it; coconut oil melts ...
Enjoy!
And I’m glad I no longer have to look for chocolate without plastic or aluminum packaging!
Thanks Frederique! 😉
